TSTI’s Renaissance Group is an active, vibrant group of mature adults (age around 70+) who enjoy coming together at least once a month for lectures, dining, music, and trips to interesting places, entertainment, culture, and the opportunity to meet new friends. We are much like family where the bonds of friendship among our members have become stronger during the twenty years of our existence. We share the joys and milestones of life together and support one another through difficult times.
Several of our members take a more active role in the volunteer activities at Temple, or attend services more frequently, although neither is a prerequisite for belonging to Renaissance. The only requirements are Temple membership, age and the payment of modest dues at $20 per person, which is waived in the initial year of TSTI membership.
A recent example of our programming is our membership lunch when our guest speaker, Edith Sobel, spoke on “Jewish Gangsters, But they Were Good to their Mothers.” She was editor of the Jewish Community News, an award-winning publication of the Jewish Federations of North Jersey and Greater Clifton-Passaic, and captivated us as a lecturer, critic and commentator.
Our programs each season vary somewhat but include events like: attending a stage play, visiting the 9/11 Memorial Museum, enjoying a Hanukkah dinner with entertainment, three “Lunch and Learn” sessions, playing cards and games (Looking to start a Mahjong group!), endless dining, football watching on Super Bowl Sunday (“Day of Games”), sharing the Second Seder at Giorgio’s Ristorante in South Orange and more…
We would love to have you join us!
